About
Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is a remarkable 15,000-acre urban refuge just 10 miles northeast of downtown Denver. Once a chemical weapons manufacturing site, it has been transformed into one of the most important urban wildlife habitats in the country. Home to over 330 species including a herd of American bison, bald eagles, deer, coyotes, and prairie dogs. The 11-mile Wildlife Drive is perfect for wildlife viewing from your car, and several short hiking trails offer closer encounters with the prairie landscape.
